    Internship program dates:

    Fall 2018: September 10th through December 14th


    The Network Intern is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the network and voice infrastructures.  The position requires network/voice systems analysis, design, development, implementation, integration, testing, and ongoing modifications and support of complex hardware and software systems, including network, VoIP, and server systems.  A Network Intern may be asked to confer with business users, technology managers, and colleagues to discuss and determine system functional specifications and requirements, and to use independent judgment in making recommendations regarding best practices and appropriate architecture across a global Wide Area Network.  This person may be asked to create and maintain documentation for all managed systems. 


    • Utilizes best practices to troubleshoot, analyze, and recommend solutions to complex network and voice issues
    • May be asked to consult with users and other associates to determine and document business requirements and functional specifications
    • Administers Cisco networking and VoIP hardware and software
    • Learns new technologies as appropriate
    • Creates documentation for applicable tasks
    • Monitors voice systems and network activity and makes tuning adjustments based on results and analysis
    • May be asked to troubleshoot network and VoIP failures
    • May be asked to write and maintain scripts in both UCCE and UCCX environments
    • Coordinates efforts and supports network infrastructure and VoIP applications globally
    • Learns systems and technologies utilized by the team
    • May be asked to participate in technical reviews and provide feedback
    • Ensures that changes conform to standards, are thoroughly tested, and will not break environments
    • Assist in developing test plans as needed
    • Find and repair incidents when issues occur
    • Work with some supervision, strive to work unsupervised, asking questions when appropriate
    • Earn trust from peers and management regarding capabilities and task execution


    • Desire to learn in the areas of networking, security, and voice technologies
    • Basic understanding of networking technologies
    • Have or be actively working towards a Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) certification is recommended
    • Understand routing/switching concepts
    • Detailed work and organizational skills
    • Must work independently and professionally
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Preference given to students currently in their junior or senior year of college, pursuing a degree in related field
    • Able to work in Idaho Falls, Idaho for your program dates of approximately 90 days
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
